Laura and Eymon found a cicada!
We practiced writing letters in the sand.
We pretended to be archeologists and dug for letters to identify!
We counted and followed directions to make Chicka Chicka Boom Boom trees for snack!
Eymon is six! Happy Birthday, Eymon!
For our Manatee Ticket celebration, we ate lunch in the classroom and watched some animated books on Tumblebooks.com (please email me if you'd like the username and password)!
We also had popsicles as part of our Manatee Ticket celebration!
Here we are dancing to celebrate!
Here we are reading our first library books. These books stayed at school for the first week, but your child should have brought home his/her second book this past Friday. It is due this coming Friday, but you are welcome to send it back earlier for morning check out.
Our first letter of the week was the letter C. Here's Levi putting his C-thing in the C-bag!
We sing and play instruments each week to practice our word wall words. We say the name of the word wall word and how it's spelled.
Ms. Blount conducting the music makers!
Here we are at Exploration Stations!
We did an investigation on how to crack a coconut because of our Chicka Chicka Boom Boom letter unit. The kids came up with all sorts of different ways we might be able to get the coconut open. We tried as many as we could while at school:
Juan hit it with a hammer.
We tried cutting into it.
We tried to hammer a nail into it.
Look what happened to our nail!
We threw it in the air and against the wall.
We got it open!
We tried the coconut water inside. Most of the kids didn't care for it!
We observed the inside and had a taste of the coconut meat.
Juan is six! Happy birthday, Juan!
A new class pet was in the C-bag. It's Creamsicle the cornsnake!
We talked about the things that animals need (food, water, bedding, etc.) and what Creamsicle needed specifically (mice, heat pad, etc.) and worked to set up his habitat.
Mrs. Shaw (Club's counselor) came to talk to us about feelings. The kids are singing a song and acting out how they're feeling in the song.
