Pete the Cat helped to kick off the school year!  We read Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes.

The kids helped me read and sing.

Recess is so fun!  Here we are exploring the playground and making new friends!

We read The Gingerbread Man: Loose in the School on the first day.  We found a note from the Gingerbread Man and chased him all around the school!  We saw the office, the media center, the lunchroom, and lots more along the way.

We finally caught back up with him in our room!

Then we ate him!

Here's a look at some of the literacy centers we've been working on so far.

We read the book Kindergarten ROCKS!  It's about a boy who's feeling a bit nervous about starting kindergarten.

We drew our favorite part of kindergarten so far and wrote our names on the cards for our parents!

Rebecca made a square during morning choices.

We do wiggle songs to give our brain a quick break.

During math, we are exploring manipulatives.  We are counting, comparing, measuring, and designing through play.

We had apples and honey for snack for Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year).  We ate these sweet things and hoped for a sweet new year together!  (We will be learning about many holidays that are celebrated around the world as part of our kindergarten social studies curriculum.)

We end our day with afternoon meeting.  We think about what we've done and sing a song!

We celebrated our first week with all of our friends by having ice cream!

Our first few weeks have been amazing.  I am so excited for this year!
